Included is a wireless charging pad and instructions.
It supports wireless charging with the Qi standard, so it can be used with Xiaomi 12S Ultra and other phones that support reverse wireless charging without using the included charging pad.
It is nice not to have to carry around a dedicated charging pad.
Pleasant-to-the-touch leather strap
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro is available with either a leather or silicone strap.
The leather version is beige in color and has a nice feel to it, making it look less sporty.
The body measures 46mm x 46mm x 11.28mm.
The clasp is similar to that of a standard wristwatch.
Eleven holes are drilled.
The weight was 59.5g including the strap.
It is a bit on the heavy side for a smartwatch, and the large display may get in the way during strenuous exercise.
Equipped with digital crown
The buttons on the side have been changed to two types: a digital crown and a thin, unobtrusive button.
The digital crown can be turned to scroll through menus or adjust the volume on a music player.
The workout mode is opened by pressing the thin button at the bottom.
More than 100 workout modes are available, including running and cycling.
Location measurement by GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and Beidou is supported.
Circular display that can now also be displayed permanently
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro features a 1.47″ 480×480 resolution circular AMOLED display with an always-on display feature.
The watch can always be displayed, so you can quickly check the time without having to lift your arm.
However, it consumes a lot of battery power, and while the normal battery life is 14 days, it lasts only 5 days with the always-on display turned on.
Always on display can be “Smart” to turn on only when worn or awake, or set a schedule.
Brightness supports automatic adjustment.
The brightness has been improved to 600 nits, which is quite good.
Generally, 1200 nits is required outdoors, and 600 nits is still not enough, but considering heat generation and battery consumption, it is unavoidable at this stage.
Smooth movement with MIUI Watch 1.0
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro runs the MIUI Watch 1.0 OS.
It runs smoothly.
The animation when opening settings seems a little slow, but it is not something I open every day, so it is not a problem.
Synchronization speed also seems to have improved, and I was able to synchronize with the app in just a few seconds.
Skin temperature can also be measured
In addition to heart rate and blood oxygen levels, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro can now measure skin temperature.
It is only the temperature of the skin on the arm, and there is a limitation that it must be measured manually, though.
Heart rate monitoring can be set at 1 to 30 minute intervals.
There is also a feature that alerts you if your heart rate is too high or too low.
Measurement results are displayed graphically on the app’s home screen and can be viewed daily, weekly, or monthly.
Blood oxygen levels can also be tracked throughout the day.
Sleep monitoring also calculates a respiration score using the microphone.
Battery consumption during daytime activity with heart rate monitoring automatic, blood oxygen level tracking on, and sleep monitoring on was about 1% less in about 2 hours.
During sleep, it decreased by 2% in about 8 hours.
It graphs sleep quality, etc. in this manner.
Notifications can be displayed
Once set up in Mi Fitness, notifications on the phone can be viewed on the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro.
Even Japanese can be displayed properly, but unfortunately some kanji characters are displayed in Chinese font.
You can receive notifications from all kinds of apps such as Gmail, LINE, Slack, etc., but you cannot take actions such as replying to them.
Press “Open on phone” to open the notification on your phone.
With speakers and stand-alone music playback
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro has a built-in speaker, so it will notify you with a sound in addition to a vibrate when notifications come in. (Silent by default).
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro can be connected to Wi-Fi by itself, and you can add a dedicated app for Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro. If you add a music app, you can play music while exercising with the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro alone.
The intensity of the vibrator is adjustable.
Equipped with Bluetooth unlock and NFC
There is Google’s Smart Lock on Global smartphones, but in China, it is often left to each manufacturer’s implementation, so the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro includes a Bluetooth unlock feature.
You can choose how close you want to be to unlock your phone.
It is also equipped with NFC, allowing for smooth payments via Alipay, etc.
Only in China, though…
It also seems to have the ability to control Xiaomi smart home products by working with Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 and other products.
MIUI Watch 1.0 seems to encompass an IoT platform called Xiaomi Vela, which allows for more advanced integration than previous models.
Conclusion
- Smoothly moving large display
- Serene design
- Capable of measuring blood oxygen levels throughout the day and body temperature
- Supports Qi wireless charging
- Always on display
- Equipped with GPS, speaker and NFC
- Heavy
- Some notifications are in Chinese font
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro has a luxurious look and design that does not look out of place in formal settings.
It is quite multifunctional, and can be used for a variety of purposes, from tracking blood oxygen levels to measuring body temperature, playing music on the speakers, and recording travel routes with GPS.
It is available at JD for 1499CNY and up.
