I bought a Xiaomi Civi 3 Disney100 Edition.
Disney 100th Anniversary Model
The Xiaomi Civi 3 is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra and collaborated with Mickey Mouse on the Disney 100th Anniversary Model “Xiaomi Civi 3 Disney 100th Edition”.
It is difficult to find a thin and light smartphone with a weight of 176.4g and a thickness of 7.56 mm that achieves this thinness and lightness with a large screen and high performance.
This review is done in 12 GB + 512 GB edition and version V14.0.6.0. TMICNXM.
- Sufficiently high-performance MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra
- lightweight at 176.4g
- Bright display with outdoor measurement of 1207 nits
- Dual front camera that can shoot 4K @ 30 fps video
- Mono speakers with poor sound spread
- Photos with 1x and 2x zoom have different tints
- Heat prone under heavy load
- Widevine L3

The outer box is a Mickey Mouse Club design, with Mickey Mouse silhouettes and other designs on the sides.
It also comes with a sticker indicating that it is an officially licensed Disney product.
When you open the box, you will first see a Mickey Mouse-shaped SIM pin.
The instructions, protective case and stickers are inside the box with the SIM pin, and the charging cable and charger are underneath the phone itself.
There is also a serial number, my unit was No. 04332.
The protective film is factory attached.
The protective case is a bit hard and firm.
The back side has a cute Mickey Mouse silhouette design.
The charger is a USB Type-A to C cable with 67W fast charging capability.
Display: Brightness for easy viewing even outdoors
The Xiaomi Civi 3 has a 6.55″ FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution display.
Unfortunately, it is an edge display, which is better because it is on the gentle side, but the edges are reflective.
The array is diamond pixel.
When measuring brightness with the LX-1336B during all-white HDR video playback with automatic brightness adjustment on, we reached a maximum of 1109 nits.
Outdoors, we were able to confirm that the high brightness mode was triggered even further, reaching 1207 nits. It is quite easy to see even outdoors during the day.
It is nice to see a mid-high model with a display as bright as the high-end ones.
Refresh rate is 120Hz.
The touch latency measured by the WALT Latency Timer was 10.5 ms, and the screen drawing latency was 20.0 ms, for a total of 30.5 ms.
The device with MediaTek SoCs tend to have a tendency to experience latency, especially in screen rendering, but in the case of the Xiaomi Civi 3, the latency is low.
It is Widevine L3 so it cannot stream in HD quality on Disney+ etc.
It is unusual for a recent Xiaomi to be L3, but it did not go to L1 after connecting to the internet and rebooting.
It has an in-screen fingerprint sensor and authentication is fast.
The default animation for fingerprint authentication is “Dream” in the shape of a butterfly. It is Disney-like, but it does not seem to have been prepared only for Disney edition.
Back: Fingerprint-resistant metallic back
On the back is a large illustration of Mickey Mouse.
The standard version is a two-tone color and has a subdued color scheme, so there are likely to be different tastes. Personally, I thought it would come in two-tone black and red.
It weighs 176.4g.
Most of the recent middle-high and above models are close to 200g, and it is great that the weight was kept at this level despite the high performance and 4,500mAh battery.
It feels quite light, partly because it is 7.56 mm thin.
Camera: color tones tend to change with zoom
- 50MP (OIS / Sony IMX800)
- 8MP (Ultra wide Sony IMX355)
- 2MP (Macro OmniVision ov02b10)
Photos taken hand-held are stored here.
They seem to be strangely prone to warmer tones than the photos taken with the 13 Ultra.
Perhaps this is a tuning designed to give a warmer impression to the photos.
Although the 2x zoom is quite beautiful, the color tones are quite different from 1x and the 2x tends to be less saturated.
The front camera is a dual camera, 32MP (78° wide angle Samsung S5KGD2) + 32MP (100° ultra wide angle Samsung S5KGD2), which will allow for clean shots and thanks to the ultra wide angle, group shots will be easy.
It is also possible to shoot 4K@30FPS video with the front camera, which was previously impossible with Xiaomi phones.
When shooting portraits, you can choose between two modes: fresh and film.
If you prefer a more realistic image, the film mode is better.
Speaker: mono and sound so-so
The Xiaomi Civi 3 has mono speakers instead of stereo speakers.
Although the mono speakers lack a broad soundstage, treble is clear and bass is reasonable.
This type is Dolby Atmos compatible and can be turned off during speaker.
In mono, Dolby Atmos is not very effective, so it is practically almost exclusively for earphones.
Measuring the audio output delay with the WALT Latency Timer, it was 125.7ms.
Normally, this is about 10 to 40 ms, so the delay is quite large.
Ports: 67W fast charge support despite its thickness
It has a 4500mAh battery and is 67W fast charging compatible.
While the battery design is thinner and more demanding than normal smartphones, usability is not compromised as there is no significant drop in capacity or charging speed.
The power and volume buttons are located on the right side.
OS: Mickey Mouse all over the home and animation
The Xiaomi Civi 3 Disney100 Edition has a Mickey Mouse design in areas such as the home screen icons, wallpaper, charging animation, and AOD.
The icons are customized with Mickey Mouse motifs, mainly for Chinese apps.
The design is relatively close to the original app icons.
Unfortunately, notification and ringtones are normal and Mickey Mouse does not speak.
It would be fun if he just said something like “Ha ha!” when the device boots up….
Performance: High enough for a middle-high range
The Xiaomi Civi 3 is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra, which is not enough to play games at 60FPS paste, but enough to play them comfortably if the image quality options are turned down a bit.
The same thin and light smartphone Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G was not able to play games comfortably at all, but the Xiaomi Civi 3 has no problems.
In Geekbench 6, the single-core 1242 and multi-core 3424 were achieved with the package name disguised version (=unaffected by the manufacturer’s illegal boost) and the single-core 1228 and multi-core 3464 with the normal version.
Since there is no significant difference, it seems that the performance is not controlled by the package name determination.
The test in Geekbench ML was forced to terminate in the middle of the test.
In the Wild Life Extreme Stress Test in 3DMark with disguised package name, the score was 1547 to 1252, the temperature increase was 29°C to 42°C (13°C increase) and battery consumption was 8%.
The performance is just a little short of stable play of high-load games such as Genshin in the highest quality at 50 FPS, but if the quality is reduced, most of the games can be played smoothly without any problems.
In PCMark Work 3.0 (package name disguised version), which measures performance in everyday use such as document manipulation, the score was 14033.
The processing performance is on par with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 equipped smartphone.
UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5X memory.
The LPDDR5X memory does not seem to provide very maximum performance.
Sequential and random writes are quite fast, and the tuning may be focused on reducing storage time when taking pictures.
When playing Genshin in Performance Mode, Highest Quality, 60FPS setting, and Sumeru and measured with WeTest PerfDog, the power consumption was 104.82 mW per FPS at an average of 49.4 FPS.
The battery temperature rose to a maximum of about 45.7°C.
Although the power efficiency is quite good, the performance degradation caused by heat generation tends to cause junk (→ the smoothness of the experience is reduced and you can easily feel crackling), so it is better to give up playing at the highest image quality and reduce the image quality a little.
Conclusion
- Sufficiently high-performance MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra
- lightweight at 176.4g
- Bright display with outdoor measurement of 1207 nits
- Dual front camera that can shoot 4K @ 30 fps video
- Mono speakers with poor sound spread
- Photos with 1x and 2x zoom have different tints
- Heat prone under heavy load
- Widevine L3
The Xiaomi Civi 3 has high performance but weighs only 176g, making it a more practical version of the Mi 11 Lite 5G.
Although the weight has increased slightly from the Mi 11 Lite 5G, the difference in performance is even greater, and we recommend it to those who “don’t want the highest performance, but want a lightweight, large screen smartphone that can also play a few games”.
The Xiaomi Civi 3 Disney 100th Anniversary Limited Edition is available in China from 2899CNY.
